Many agencies follow this model: a sales manager sells a service and promises to solve the client’s problem. The project then passes to an account manager, who communicates with the client, and a project manager, who coordinates the specialists. Once delivery begins, the sales manager is no longer responsible for the outcome and moves on to selling new projects.
This model has no marketer who sees the project as a whole and understands how to solve the client’s marketing challenge. As a result, the desired outcome is unclear, and nobody is accountable for growing the client’s sales.
